Avril is delighted to have created a mindfulness workshop, designed for you to take this opportunity in lockdown to develop a new skill or remind yourself of this valuable practise. Now more than ever, we all need time to be here, to be present, find space and to give ourselves the gift of focus and inner peace. Whatever experience you have, you may find either a rekindled excitement and appreciation, or for the first time learn the many benefits of mindfulness.
Mindfulness means paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, yet without judgment. This is not about trying to stop thoughts and feelings – but just not being pushed around by thoughts and feelings, as you learn to be able to have some mastery over them. Although mindfulness has roots in ancient Buddhist meditation, it is quickly gaining momentum in today’s western and scientific community as a proven way to enhance relationships and connection, reduce stress, boost the immune system, improve memory, and better manage emotions, amongst many other things.
We challenge you to start a new habit or revisit these techniques through this workshop, exploring ‘mini mindful moments,’ as we share these techniques and practices and take the opportunity to develop mindfulness as a daily practice with no need for additional time in your day. In our busy modern world, too often filled with stress, sleep deprivation, multitasking, and digital distractions - what could be better?
And remember, mindfulness does not have to be only while sitting in a chair in a quiet, eucalyptus-infused room. Bring mindfulness with you while you are out shopping, brushing your teeth, walking the dog, holding a baby, home schooling and even working at the computer!
